The creative speech is linked to a long tradition and was deepened to serve the stage, pedagogy and therapy, but also speakers in any form of public speaking (lectures, pleadings, speeches, courses ...). It is first of all about developing the awareness, the agility and the power of the instrument of speech at the same time as listening. Through the articulation, the breath, the volubility, the pose of the voice, etc ... the speaker learns to project the speech on the air and to make it vibrate in the acoustic space.
The activity of speaking – the capacity to articulate in sounds and words, to give voice to what thoughts, feelings and intentions are living inside - has become less and less expression of such aspects of human life as truth or beauty or goodness, or of what makes a human being truly human.
Creative Speech invites participants to explore the basic elements of language and suggests little known ways – ones inherent in language itself - in which actors, speech artists, public speakers and anyone interested in the future of the living spoken word in the digital age, can enliven and enrich their speech, and become truly creative artists of the words they speak. These include uncovering the life of consonants and vowels, exploring gesture to transform the voice, investigating voice placements and different styles of speaking for different kinds of writing.
The basics :
An introduction to Creative Speech : the imagination and movement as the two main principles that can enliven speaking.
Further exploration of words, syllables and sounds as sources of the life within speech: vowels and consonants.
Voice placements and styles of speaking. Freeing the breath from the physical speech instrument.
Gestures for sentences as expression of thoughts and intentions, for dialogue and other dramatic situations.
The application :
Vocal and dramatic texts.
Gestures for words and painting images with sounds in telling a story.
Sound moods and colours for speaking poetry.
Deepening and concluding the speech work on stories, poems and monologues and speeches in different styles.
